Most of us have known it for a long time. The recording industry has to change in order to survive. Honestly I think some have finally woke up and smelled the roses. They are having a meeting sponsored by the Future of Music Coalition they seem to think that consumers and the recording industry need to compromise. Well how dumb do they think we are we have been calling for compromise for a long time.
I tell you what they need to do. They need to listen to consumers and give us what we want. I think I will make my own list of wants. Add your own want to the list.
1. Be able to pay and download only the songs I want at a reasonable price
2. Be able to order a custom CD with just the songs I want
3. Be able to RIP the CD purchased in item 2 so that I can put it on my Home PC, Laptop,PDA or MP3 Player.
4. Full disclosure on how much money the artist is getting from the sale.
5. CD cost pennies to press I should not have to pay $19.95 for a CD containing 1 song that made it into the billboard Top 100.
Record stores are going to need to be able to make Cd’s to order. You walk into your favorite music store you sit down at a music terminal and scroll thru play list and pick and choose the music you want to purchase. You place your order and then just like a roll of film you pick up your music later that day or have it mailed to you.
I would buy a ton of new and older hits if I could order my music that way. But I do not want any restrictions on what I do with it once I purchase it.
