Move over Microsoft. Vista looks like Windows 95 compared to Mac OS X 10.5. After seeing clips from the WWDC keynote I am officially blown away. The new technology that is being put into this new release is something Windows didn’t even think was possible. 10.5 will feature the ability to backup files and data integrated right into the OS. New Core Animation for applications will enhance graphics 100 times better. You will be able to create dashboard widgets on your own through safari using a special feature. The desktop mail application features stationary templates. iChat features major upgrades including backdrops for video conferencing, visibility, multiple logins, animated icons and much more. This release of Mac OS X is sure to please everyone and I believe sell more than Tiger. Developers will be receiving a preview today from the WWDC along with new tools. Expected release date, in Apple terms, is the Spring of 2007. Lets not forget that Apple said the Intel transition would be complete by 2007. It only took them 210 days from the day it was announced. I want to hear what Windows users have to say about the Apple releases. Take care all.

Keep in mind what Steve Jobs said. They are keeping many other features secret. I believe that a new Finder will definitely be one of the new features. What else? Who knows.
I was a life long Windows (and DOS before that) user. I had supported and developed for PC’s for many years but last year I made the jump and I could not be happier. I still keep a Windows XP box but I use it if I need to help out other Windows users (friends and family) but I am working hard on converting them to Apple. A few of them already did that and many told me that they would definitely think about it when buying a new computer. So Brian – I would not be so sure that Apple will not take away MS base …
All respect for apple and their stunts, but it is a entire different type of users than Microsoft, I would never and either would any of my friends jump to Apples OS, we are and will always be Windows users.
I think they are in for a big disappointment if they truly believe that they will take away any substantial user base from MS.
I use both, and this is no surprise to me. The point that everyone should notice is, as you pointed out, 210 days? They released how many versions of OSX and none of them had the issues or the amount of updates that XP has, and Microsoft is still fooling with their new release, and a lot of it resembles OSX. The simularities are obvious. Also with the recent hack of VIsta at Black Hat….Microsoft needs to either wake up or get some sleep from working so hard trying to do…exactly what? The other thing that as a user of both I have noticed…..Vista is very complicated, at least from what I see for the average user. I’m not sure if they will make it easier on the final release, but the beta really looks like it’s overkill in a lot of the settings. …in saying that, the mac is simple, clean, and works and is beautiful?
I can’t wait until these releases. As I said I use both, but I am certainly in no hurry to rush out and get Vista, quite the contrary.
