Consider this: Record all 24 episodes of the TV show ’24’ and watch them all together during a holiday. Or every show that has Michael J. Fox. Or a bunch of cartoons and Mr. Rogers episodes for the kids. Or all of the West coast playoff games. Etc. I find myself saving a lot of shows that I just enjoy or that I’d prefer to watch all at once or some PPV movies and concerts. We watch more stuff (but less total TV because we zip through the commercials and credits) on the modified TiVo.

I have a 30-hour unit, and I find that it’s sufficient. The rational behind that is that I could never “catch up” if I had 30 hours of programming I actually wanted to watch. I usually review the programming every day, and delete anything I don’t want to (or won’t have time to) watch, which leaves plenty of room for the programming I do want to watch.
