Windows Mobile 2003 first review

Hahn Choi wrote a great review on the new ‘Windows Mobile 2003’ It seems that Windows Mobile doesn’t really have any big or new improvments, just keeping up with third-party software. In my opinion after reading this article, the upgrade is not worth $30. I’ve got the same third party software on my PocketPC 2002 that is built into Windows Mobile 2003, except mine was free.

“Biggest changes accommodate wireless. Bluetooth now has a separate application in the Connection Manager. But hardware developers may choose to go with their own Bluetooth applications. (HP, for example, forged its own path with the new h2200.)

Windows Mobile makes significant usability enhancements for Wi-Fi or 802.11b. Taking cues from Windows XP, Windows Mobile now includes Zero Configuration. Wireless access points in a given area can be automatically detected. A notification bubble automatically displays the access points, prompting you to select the desired connection. Pocket PC 2002 relied on third-party applications to automatically detect wireless networks.” [TechTV]
