Regular On-Air Radio Station may save the day “NOT”

It appears that not only are the dedicated webcasters feeling the pinch so are the regular radio stations that are also broadcasting there programs on the net. Those that are will now be faced with a double payment and I am sure they do not like that as they only pay a percentage of gross income now to the RIAA.

So they have ponied up there lawyers to appeal the recent decision to rake web broadcasters over the coals. I am sure these Radio stations will do everything in there power to get exemptions and leave the poor webcasters to drown in paperwork.

The Mercury News Reports that “The Copyright Office established a rate of 0.07 cents per listener per song in June, which means that Internet only ”Webcasters” and broadcast giants like Clear Channel Communications Corp. would be on the hook for 70 cents for each song played to an audience of 1,000 listeners” [Source The Mercury News]
