Microsoft Making a Huge Mistake With This One.

We all know that there are many, many version of Windows being used around the world that are not legit. But the worst thing you could do is refuse to update security holes or fixes because they are not legit. That’s what Microsoft tends to do later this year. All I can say is that anyone using a pirated Windows version needs to have the same security updates as everyone else or we will all suffer from more trojans, viruses, DOS attacks and slow downs on the internet. re: Microsoft validation and their so-called “mistake”.

Look, I know everyone likes bashing Microsoft because they’re number one. But please, people have to take responsibility for their own actions. You’re saying that because individuals are running illegal (pirated) versions of Windows, that Microsoft should continue to cater to them by providing them security updates?

How about this, instead? Microsoft should validate, then render inoperable any copy of the operating system that doesn’t show as legal.

This would prevent the pirates from even existing as users, and make sure that paying customers get all the updates they need.

Of course, if MS tried that, people would howl “that’s not fair!” But the bottom line is this:
I’m sick and tired of people making excuses for software piracy. A company (and shareholders!) deserve the revenue they should get for every copy of the software that’s used.

People need to take responsibility for the actions they take.

Microsoft needs to be held accountable IF they are shown demonstrable security holes AND don’t take immediate action to remedy them. That’s fair.

Pirates need to be held accountable, and if they are contributing to the proliferation of hacks and other problems because they can’t update their security because of invalid keys, their machines should be taken offline.

The CNET article is incorrect. Security patches will still be pushed to non-valid Windows lisences, but they will not be able to download and install non-security updates and add-ons.
