Lucas Gonze XSPF, Marc Canter on mRSS oh boy!

I was talking with Lucas Gonze who is the creator of webjay.org and was kicking around some ideas for the Techpodcasts.com website. Little did I know that something he has been working on for a long time is part of the new fantastically priced Yahoo Music platform.

“XSPF is an open-source music playlist format. It hit the bigtime this week when the Yahoo! Music Engine was released as the client for Yahoo! Music Unlimited. YME uses XSPF as its playlisting format. This is cooler and potentially a bigger deal than most people realize. […] This is extraordinary from Yahoo!’s viewpoint. To whatever extent things like this catch on, people will be strongly guided to the Yahoo! Music Engine to hear the music, and to Music Unlimited subscription to create their own playlist blogs.”

Now combine this with the announcement of mRSS and you start to get the picture that their will and could be some cool tools built on this.

I am going to point you at 2 article one is from Marc Canter and the other is Lucas’s personal blog you need to read back a bit on Lucas site to get dialed in, then read Marc’s comment and associated links and you can see the whole audio and video world are about to get spun on their heads.
