This week marks the third edition of the new “Bryan’s Pick” Bryan’s Pick is a usefull and time saving program that I recommend for anyone all ages that makes things in life a little easier.
Instant messaging has become so popular today, that it is just now a way of life. Some people are now depending on instant messaging for their job, work, or other important issue. Instant Messaging is easy to use, until you get into the world of rivalry.
Imagine installing 5 programs for 5 spererate instant messaging clients, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, MSN, and IRC, just to keep up with the world. This week’s pick is a multi-client chat program that combines all of those IM clients in one simple, and easy to use program called Trillian. Now, there is a free version of Trillian and a Pro version. If you have the $25 to spend, use it. It’s definatly worth it. I personally hated the GUI of the free version, but hey- if you like to be cheap, go with the free version. This review isn’t on the free version though, so without further wait, here is the review for Trillian Pro…
PROS:Trillian Pro is definatly the best multi-client IM chat program. I love almost everything about it. They have a great alert system when new news is published (usese RSS) or you recieve a new email, there is a little window in the corner that pop’s up to tell you. Just like MSN messenger and DeadAIM, which I personally like. Also the ability for plugins like WinAMP, POP3 email, News Feeds, even little things like birthday reminders and such. Now, if you are like me, you don’t like your taskbar cluttered up, Trillian has a little feature that will hide any window! ANY window! It’s great.
CONS: This is Bryan’s Pick, so there aren’t usually too many cons. I just wish that there was a tabbed-IM Window plugin (like DeadAIM) that orginizes your IM windows. Like I said, you can hide it, but when your in a conversation, you have to go File > IM Window > Yadayada – that gets annoying if you are in a conversation. Well, nothing is perfect
Trillian Pro is $25 shareware download at 2.9MB. Check it out! That’s Bryan’s Pick for the week of July 13th. Check back next week for another software review! Bryan Roy, GeekNews Central
