Cafe Cyberia was designed to support the way women used computers, at the time. Started with $35,500 in seed capital, the store grew to include international locations. The stores are now owned by a South Korean entity and have been rebranded.

Verizon Doubles DSL Speed

Verizon Communications has doubled the speed of consumer DSL service is a dozen east coast states. If the market reacts well, the remaining states will receive the same faster DSL alternative. The additional bandwidth is a reaction to Comcast's doubling the speed of its cable broadband service, earlier this year. The extra bandwidth will be a big hit with online gamers and professionals who work from home.

Lost Hard Drive Contains 23,000 Social Security Numbers

Students, faculty, and staff at seven campuses of the California State University (CSU) system are at risk for identity theft after a hardware technician improperly disposed of a computer hard drive with unencrypted database tables that included Social Security numbers and other personal details. The CSU is required, under California law, to notify all affected parties.
