When my wife needed a new USB drive, and needed it yesterday, I turned to my daily email from Buy.com (I am actually not sure how I got on their list, but they do have some killer deals). First, though, I should point out that you need to be careful because of their past habit of selling customers a hidden
Over the past five years I have been down in the trenches working like a dog to monetize new media content. While I have had significant success with a number of companies, every month I leave 10's of millions of new media impressions on the table unsold. This is not from a lack of trying that is for sure, but
I decided to pull the trigger and go ahead with the 2010 Podcast Awards which will be the 6th Annual. The work involved to do the awards is significant, fortunately I have had a number of folks step forward and volunteer to help this year. We kick off nominations on November 7th and run for two weeks. We will start
The first addition I would recommend is TiVo Desktop, which allows you to play music and view photos that are on your network. On Windows it also allows you to transfer shows to your computer for viewing. To do this on a Mac you need the Roxio Toast Titanium software. The second thing I would add is a piece of software found under Google Software code called PyTivoX. PyTivoX allows you to play videos that are on your network thru your TiVo. Once you download and install it go to preferences and click on Streambaby which is under the SB icon. Then click on the plus buttons and add any folders with videos you want to view on your TiVo. On the TiVo these videos can be found under "Showcases and extra" at the bottom of the list or under Now Playing on some TiVos
Tor.com are hosting a Steampunk Fortnight over at tor.com, building on the success of last year's Steampunk Month. From 20th October through to 3rd November, there will be stream of articles, stories, desktop backgrounds and giveaways all on the steampunk theme. If you aren't familiar with steampunk, it's a sub-genre of sci-fi where scientific discovery stopped in the Victorian era
Over the past twenty-four hours you have probably heard the news that some of the major networks, such as ABC, NBC, and CBS have blocked access from Google TV. I don't know if I should be surprised or not. I've grown accustomed to them doing this sort of thing - Hulu (NBC and Fox) blocked Boxee, and didn't even want
I have not heard of this anywhere, which is odd. But yesterday when I stopped at my favorite gas station (Quick Trip, for anyone that cares) to get my morning Diet Coke (coffee is for amateurs, you know), there were these little stickers on the floor leading back to the hallway by the bathrooms. I had noticed a few weeks
Buffalo Technology has added three new wireless-n (802.11n) products to its AirStation range, including the N-Technology USB 2.0 Adapter, N-Technology 150Mbps router and the Nfiniti Dual-Band Wireless-N Ethernet Converter. Starting with the AirStation N-Technology USB2 adapter, this is the smallest wireless-n adaptor I've seen - it's more like the little Bluetooth or wireless mouse transmitters - but still manages 150

I do think it is going to help Facetime to grow in popularity. Now if you get a Facetime call and your at home you don't need to sit there in front of your Iphone, trying to position it so people aren't looking up your nose. Now you can continue working and see them on your computer. Also unlike Facetime on the Iphone, the person who is using the computer version can record what is being sent to him or her on the Iphone, using something like Camtasia or Screenium. I know that you can already do this using Skype, but it is just another option for people. Plus it allows a Mac to Mac call. There are a couple of things that are missing from it and I wish it had. The first would be the ability to chat from the Iphone or Ipod Touch using Facetime. The second is it works only with other Facetime users, it would be so much better if you could use it no matter what video client the other person was on. However, I also know that is not Apple's way of doing things and I am probably going to be waiting a long time for this too happen. The final problem I have is I need more people I know to buy Iphones or Ipod Touches or Macs so I can use it more.
Sometimes things no one ever thought of simply seem to come together. Services and devices end up being used to do things the individual inventors and designers couldn’t have imagined. For some time now, I’ve been thinking about attaching one of the new Mac Minis to one of my TV’s and utilizing it as a home theater PC as well
For the past few days I have been scanning the net looking for a new Wordpress theme for my own site. There are a lot out there. Just do a Google search if you don't believe me. Some are for purchase, but a lot are free. Many of the sites are legit, but some are sketchy. So the question is,
