Netscape could make it easier for Video Podcasters

NetscapeI love what Jason and his team have done over at Netscape you can submit Video to their site, not only do they convert it and make a iPod ready version for those that only want to produce a single version but they also provide you a hyper-link to the original file you upload.

YouTube does not do this, and this one of the reasons why all of the Videos that the Tech Podcast Network produces, and selected special content that is making it’s way onto the Blubrry.com community will be also submitted to Netscape. We are going to add some functions to Blubrry that make it very easy to submit hotpicked content to Netscape.

Jason, Netscape could have made it easier to submit their content by allowing us to provide the physical URL to the current file location versus having to upload it again then you could have pulled the file. From my perspective it save me time uploading and you will get more selective quality content. [Netscape.com]

What does the YouTube – Google Marriage mean

If it is not self evident already with all of the deals being signed but it is pretty apparent that YouTube is about to become a mecca for commercial content. Every big player in the media industry is going to be line up at YouTube’s headquarters wanting to sign deals that get their commercial media in channels on YouTube.

I would bet that over the course of the next year YouTube that we know today will be much different and that the community of posters could become very Dis-enchanted with the influx of highly produced commercial content.

In return I am sure YouTube will create commercial subscription channels and the like so that consumers can get a media fix on content that they like. Lets just say that music artist will be paying YouTube to have their music videos placed on the service with it tied back directly into a sales division where people will be able to buy the music etc.

Wrap that around Googles advertising engine and what you end up with is a serious money making machine. The question is if they go down this road in a big way will it cause the community that they have built to find other places to put their content like Netscape.

Jason Calacanis wants to pay you to Digg for Him!

If this headline smells funny wait till you read the associated post, but the crux is this, if your a top poster at some of the top social sites like Digg, Flickr etc they are willing to pay you a $1000.00 a month for those skills over at Netscapes new site. But hey if I had the money backing behind me that Jason does I could not even imagine the amount of traction I would be able to put forth in the podcasting space.

When your building a site on sheer determination, no sleep, and a heck of a lot of heart there is only one thing in the end that will spur the success of the site and that is making sure the podcasters get paid so you can stay in business.

Hell if I had 1 or 2 kick butt marketing/sales people we could definitley move forward quicker. The key is finding people with heart that understand the space and are willing to work like a dog for a startup. It’s tough but hey thats what building a company is all about. The question is are you that person that can kick butt? I definitely need you!
