A Hero and Living Legend – Evel Knievel RIP

Just found out via Twitter that Evel Knievel is dead. This is a real shocker. Evel was bigger than life when I was a kid. He was definitely a hero of mine and I have a box of stuff stored at my mom's house from the 70’s to prove it.

Protecting from CyberBullies

As my kids grow I worry about all the normal things that parents worry about, and bullying is one of those. The potential for this to effect them when they are online now. Schools and the institutions that support them have been researching ways to prevent bullying and have in recent years been turning their attention online as well as

Need a Invite to Show Stoppers

Last year during our wall to wall coverage of CES we did not have an invite to Show Stoppers. Largely because we were new to the show. This year we will have a team at CES again, and are looking for a invite to Show Stoppers.

Blogenomics

The discussions about PPP over the past weeks have me thinking about how Bloggers can turn their effort into reward.  The difficulty that smaller bloggers have in monetising their blogs is no secret, and while there is no reason that any blogger should be able to make money from their content it would be better if there was some link between quality of content and reward.

19,000 Pounds and 500 Boxes Later!

Many of you that listen to my show know that I have been planning a move into a new home. That move started a week ago Monday and we finally had all 19,000 pounds of furniture and household goods in the house and 4pm the day before Thanksgiving.

Only partially about PeyPerPost

Readers of GNC are well aware of the general feelings towards the pay for post business model.  While Izea has recognised that undeclared ads are not a good idea, the business model still seems to me to be at the ‘mass mailing’ end of the marketing spectrum.  If a company knows who they want to advertise with they can approach them directly.  If they don’t Izea can help them get to someone, but it is sloppy marketing.

The best is not always the flashiest

A problem with Podcasts is they can be so hard to reference, this is a problem for me as in a recent podcast I listened to there was a comment on the Android launch. The commenter felt the Google Android announcement was a complete let down due to it being only a platform and not a phone. Relying on phone

Having my own TinyURL service with Get-Shorty.com

Over the past week the site at TinyURL.com has been down several times, and when you need to shorten a URL to post via IM or Twitter, it is not good for a service that you have learned to trust to become unreliable.
