Microsoft wants to entice you to Upgrade your NT boxes to Win 2000

I have some geek buddies that come over to the house from time to time and are shocked when they see a server hammering away running Windows NT. This server has been in service for a long time and has survived a couple of motherboard blow-outs upgraded cases etc. But in all of those upgrades and changes the OS has remained NT Version 4.0 SP6.

Some of you will laugh and say why are you doing that. Well I looked at some of the server stats today and the machine has been running nearly 500+ days without being re-booted and continues to process fresh data and service net based customers.

You will say why don’t you upgrade my response is simple and Microsoft will never figure this out “Don’t fix what isn’t broke” there are a lot of enterprise systems like mine that do not need to be upgraded. So I don’t care what type of migration help Microsoft offers. [ComputerWorld]
