I have always been intrigued with encryption and use PGP on select e-mail from time to time and understand the US Governments fear of wider adoption. But my adoption and utilization of encryption on a personal level goes no further than that occasional e-mail that has more info in it than I am willing to reveal to someone non-official sampling my feed.
If Uncle Sam wants to see what I am passing to my mom or a co-worker. I am sure they will apply the necessary resources to discover that information, but I am not paranoid and if they really want to see something all they need to do is ask.
But I feel that Clay Shirky has hit the nail on the head when it comes to why the RIAA has succeeded in forcing people to utilize encryption where privacy advocates and people in fear of hackers haven’t. [Clay Shirky]
