Ok we all know that a new rule is going to allow you to take your cell phone number with you when you switch carriers. But what I did not know is that the cell companies are going to be allowed to charge a fee to existing users to recover cost.
This pisses me off! So now we will all be seeing a additional monthly charge on our cell phone bills usually less than a dollar. Which brings the following question. A telephone number is virtual and regulated by the FCC why would it cost the companies anything to allow people to keep there numbers. I tell you what let me buy my telephone number on a 25 year lease and charge me a one time fee and then the cell and telephone companies can go screw themselves.
So lets look at it this way, based on 50 years of cell phone charges the cell companies are going to reap from me the following $1.00 per month recovery fee X 12 Months X 50 years = $600.00 just so I can keep my cell number when I change a carrier that has not stayed competitive. [CNN]
