The wait is over! Lucky Pokémon have been added to Pokémon GO. The storyline that started when players first got the opportunity to do Field Research and Special Research quests has been updated to include Lucky Pokémon.
Professor Willow has made an important new discovery about Pokémon! His finding suggest that Pokémon can take on a new trait when they are traded. The trait’s origin is a mystery, and you can experience it soon in Pokémon GO!
The way to obtain a Lucky Pokémon involves trading. There is a chance that a Pokémon, when traded, can become sparkly Lucky Pokémon. The Lucky Pokémon require less Stardust to power up, which means they can reach a higher CP much faster than other Pokémon. Your Pokédex will detect a Lucky Pokémon so you can keep track of them.
The longer the Pokémon spends inside a Trainer’s Pokémon storage, the higher the chance of them becoming Lucky Pokémon when they are traded.
Players who send Gifts to their friends will now receive XP for doing so. Gifts that are received have a chance of containing Stardust. This will be useful because Stardust is used to evolve Pokémon and to power them up.
There was some confusion among players after the Lucky Pokémon GO announcement. It seems that the Lucky Pokémon were not immediately added to the game. Some players made trades and were disappointed when they did not get Lucky Pokémon.
On July 25, 2018, the Pokémon GO verified Twitter account tweeted a clarification.
