Following on from my post last week about the role of patron at Kickstarter, NPR has run a piece called, "When A Kickstarter Campaign Fails, Does Anyone Get The Money Back?" This appears to have nudged Kickstarter into responding with a blog post, "Accountability on Kickstarter." I suggest that you read or listen to NPR's show before reading Kickstarter's reply but
Plants vs. Zombies was one of the first Free App of the Day games in the UK's Amazon Appstore but if I'd known about it beforehand, I would have paid the full price as it's a lot of fun and simple to play. Published by PopCap, the premise is simple: stop hordes of marauding zombies from crossing your lawn by

Some people just don't know when to say when. That's the case with one intrepid backyard astronomer who built what could arguably be called the ultimate home observatory. Many of us have a telescope that we use as a hobby to check out the Moon, Mercury, Jupiter, and other close-by locations. Not all all of us are viewing far-off nebulae. All
It seems the folks over at FeedBlitz are using scare tactics to try and get people to abandon FeedBurner, and switch to their service. Since late 2005 I have questioned why bloggers, podcasters & anyone else on the net would trust a third party with one of their most valuable digital assets their RSS feed. Rumors have been flying lately around the new Kindle Fire that everyone seems to know is coming, but has no proof of. Those rumors were compounded last week when Amazon announced the the tablet was "sold out" and no longer available. Many of the rumors have surrounded a 10 inch version of the tablet to complement the current 7 inch, but now c|net is
Lately, I've become a bit nostalgic for some aspects of what computers were like in the early days of the internet. Remember when PCs used to come with one, simple, solitaire game installed? I spent countless hours playing with the virtual cards on my computer even though I had a perfectly good deck of real cards that I could have
This Labor Day weekend, Google has been holding a $0.99 sale on apps in their Play Store. The sale is about to enter it's final 24 hours, wrapping up on Labor Day, September 3rd. The sale isn't across the board, but is a select 18 apps that were picked for an unknown reason, but it's certainly a good group. The
I recently switched phones from a Motorola Android device to a brand new Samsung one and one of the apps I didn't bother re-installing was the NBC Olympics. After all, the games are over for another four years...or two depending on how you want to count it. Now it looks as though I may want to revive that app because NBC has announced that
It's a good time to be in a geek in the UK at the moment. Over the past week there's been a raft of announcements for predominately US-based offerings making it across the pond so here's a quick round up of the latest news. Barnes and Noble are bringing the Nook to Britain and if the marketing is right, it

I have tried a lot of news aggregators over the years, including Google Reader, Reeder, Shrook, NetNewsWire, NewsFire on the desktop. On iOs I have tried Zite, Pulse, Flipboard just to name a few. I keep trying new ones because I am never quite satisfied with the one I am using. One of the problems I have with most of
