NDA Lifts on Blizzard’s Mists of Pandaria Expansion

Blizzard Entertainment has lifted the NDA for the information that was released at the Mists of Pandaria Press Event that was held on March 15, 2012. This means that some extremely exciting news, that World of Warcraft players have been dying to hear, is now available, all across the internet.

Mists of Pandaria is the fourth expansion to the World of Warcraft MMORPG. At Blizzcon 2011, several things about this upcoming expansion were released. This included a preview trailer that showed a male Pandaran of the Monk class, showing off his new skills. Not much more was revealed at that time.

Today, March 19, 2012, the NDA has been lifted on the information that was released by Blizzard at the recent Mists of Pandaria Press Event. Many questions got answered.

Players can rest assured that yes, you will be getting another character slot. You will be spared from having to make the painful decision about which of your characters to delete in order to be able to roll a Pandaran. Those who buy the Mists of Pandaria expansion will have a total of eleven character slots, instead of the current ten. You cannot get the extra slot without buying the expansion.

The female Pandaran has finally been revealed. Male Pandarans are round, thick, and shaped very much like the pandas you would see in the real world. There are a lot of players who hoped that the female Pandaran would also be round, panda-like, and closely resembling the males of the race.

Recently, a silhouette was released that showed the female Pandaran shape to be rather slender, but not overly skinny. Already, many players, (including me), were a bit disappointed by the smaller than hoped for shape of the females.

Now, full color, finished, images of the female Pandaran have been released. If you roll a female Pandaran, you can choose from the black and white coloration that the male Pandarans have, or, you can make one that resembles a red panda. Female red pandas will get tails that are animated. Black and white female Pandarans, and male Pandarans, will not.

The Mists of Pandaria expansion will include Pet Battles. Players can use their companion pets to battle against the companion pets of other players, (in a Pokemon like system). Each of your pets can learn up to six different abilities, but you can only select three of them to use in a battle against another player’s pet.

Unlike previous expansions, this one will have a full, complete story in it. Install the expansion, and you will have the entire story to play through. Future content patches will be treated like sequels to this main story.

Patches will alter the world, to reflect how Pandaria is affected by the war that is waging. Not all details are known, except that the expansion will end with a Siege on Orgrimmar, to remove the mantle of warchief from Garrosh Hellscream. This is not expected to be an Alliance only adventure, which means that Horde players will be able to participate in this event as well.
