Unlike some of the shows we cover here at Geek News Central I am taking a small team to cover the NAB Show April 14th – 19th to check out the latest and greatest gear and services. This will be our first year officially covering the show, and unlike other shows we will go in with a small team and try and find the best of the best and bring you that coverage.
The goal here at GNC in 2012 is to cover 4 major shows, one each quarter, and while we will not leave NAB with 300 interviews like we did at CES, I hope to cover the biggest news stories of the NAB Show and bring you that info here at GNC.
We will make sure that the blogging team here is ready to go for the show as well, and will be posting stories prior and during the event.
To truly GEEK-Out(on hardware) @ NAB-check out Lighbeam Systems’ new ultra-high performance, custom workstations in the NewTek Booth (LVCC South Hall -Lower Level Booth # SL 5111).
Say hi to Kiki, while you’re there and also check out the new TriCaster live-video production hub and LightWave 11 3D software.
The Lightbeam Systems killer systems have inside them the latest Intel Xeon E-5 2600 series ‘Romley’ processors – running 16 Cores with a 64-quad core GPU render node system built on the NVIDIA Quadro 6000 professional GPU. 1.3 billion triangles per second levels just about any rendering requirement.

“Bruce Devons” has been pumping that piece of crap quasi-anamorphic lens all over the internet the last few days. Please do us a favor and don’t give it a second of attention or oxygen. It’s a sneaky marketing method by not saying that HE WORKS FOR THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THE THING. We are busy kicking him out of all the forums.
Have you seen this AWESOME new anamorphic lens that is being introduced at NAB this year?

It looks insane!!! I’ve always been looking for something like this. I hope they come out with the version for Nikon soon! Looks like just for Canon DSLR right now.
Hello,
If you want to check out some really smart solutions for monitoring, content repurposing and video sharing at NAB 2012, be sure to visit the Digital Nirvana booth at N3438.
Digital Nirvana is launching exciting new features for their loggging, monitoring system called Monitor IQ. Features like iPad/iPhone/Android interface and Advanced Metadata Harvester.
The company is also launching MediaPro IQ and ManyView IQ.
MediaPro IQ helps News Directors record encrypted cable feeds in full HD for quick content repurposing using fewer systems.
ManyView IQ helps broadcasters share real-time video with staff using IP multicasting.
I would be happy to set up an interview for you with the company founders. My contact information is:
