For a while now I have held my tongue in certain dealings that have been going on in the web, especially the new media space. The reason for that is I tend to piss people off in a big way when I come unglued. This week is no exception, but their are certain things I will not compromise on, and while I may get under some people’s skin I am first and foremost a content creator! Second I understand how other content creators feel when they are being screwed!
I understand the hard work content creators put into developing their brands, and their audiences. This is why my motto remains podcasters do the work podcasters get paid. I’m not out to get rich I’m out to make sure new media grows and that your content gets distributed as you see fit.
I realize that many of the content creators and bloggers are not looking 5–10 years down the road. If you haven’t looked that far out you need to. I truly believe that we have to be careful to defend and protect our intellectual property across all channels.
Are you not sick and tired of someone making insane amounts of money of your content while you don’t get paid a dime?
I have been silent in the recent past on a number of things and I am not going to be silent anymore. Some will ask why have you been silent well partly was to play nice and not step on toes. We have a lot of work to do as a community and I will be stepping on some toes and also working with all of you to build your shows into power houses.
I will be talking about that subject a great deal more in the coming weeks. It’s time to get back on the soap box.
