Infinology the gift that keeps giving

Over a year ago I out grew a shared hosting account that at the time was being hosted by Infinology, I pulled all of the sites I host off their service and over onto GoDaddy servers. I did have 2 small domains that were left on their service as the contract did not expire until Tomorrow. So over a month ago I moved the two remaining domains off that box and have them over on the Virtual Dedicated Server at GoDaddy, Geek News Central and two other high demand domains are on a dedicated box. The virtual box is a place were I do development work. RawVoice and Podcaster News, have there own dedicated machines, all told We have a number of dedicated machines and one VDS.

I have been canceling any of the remaining shared host that I have had floating around. So about a two weeks ago I sent a message to support at Infinology asking that the account me closed. So to my surprise today I get a e-mail from support saying account closures have to be done five days in advance of the renewal, using a form that I never saw or even knew existed on the site.

So it is obvious that my request to close the account was ignored up to one day before the account was due to renew. I am not real happy about it, but if they want to play those games, I have a surprise for them. That account is allotted 500 GB traffic a month. I am going to make sure that I use every single GB of bandwidth they allow every month. If you have a podcast that is looking for some hosting I would be happy to give some podcasters some free bandwidth ;)

I would not and do not endorse this company though, my decision to leave them in the first place had a lot to do with the fact that service tickets never got answered, and that they left me high with no service with outages that lasted over 2 weeks each time. Avoid this hosting provider like the plague. Oh and there 24/7 customer service is highly questionable in that you can call them on the weekends and get voice mail and suprisingly they answer Monday through Friday.
