Your MAC Server could already be Hacked!

Do you have a MAC running as a server amd have you been sitting around all warm and cozy, well here is something that may make your eyes widen, did you know your machine can be hacked and then owned in less than 30 minutes. Yes thats right some teenager across the street or hacker in a far away place could have control of your root login and you will not even know it.

This threat is much worse than some spyware threat, because the person that hacks your machine now has the same authority to install software as you would as administrator. Welcome to the world of computing Mac fans, probably a good time to go out and buy some spyware software. [ZDNet]

Update: Appears SSH was turned on by which is not the default setting that home users will have for their machines.

    Todd,
By now there are multiple stories on the net explaining that this is not a security threat. There is a good explanation at The Unofficial Apple Weblog )
In addition to SSH being enabled, the built in firewall wasn’t turned on.
