Marketing Windows Vista

You may think to yourself, who in their right mind will go out and buy Windows Vista when it arrives maybe later this year, maybe next? After all, the only basic features that are new and needed it brings to the table will be some security and RSS features, the rest are just efforts to make their GUI look more like OSX. We also have heard that much of the hardware you have running on your PC today might not run on Vista. But Microsoft has a plan.

Movie released on DVD same day it is to Theaters causes firestorm

Many of you may have already heard that the movie the "Bubble" was released on DVD the same day it was made available to Movie Theaters and and some of the theaters are refusing to run the movie and are crying like children who have spilled their milk. Guess what get used to it! I applaud Magic Pictures for doing

Washington Post closes comments on Blog Website

Seems the Washington Post Blog has heated up to the point with attacks and comments that editors consider unacceptable that they have closed the comment section. People are not very happy with it either and consider the action as a method to stifle comments. My reaction is if you think their needs to be a way to provide feedback to

Apple is hiring a RSS Engineer!

Maybe Apple has been reading the blogs and figured out that they have blown it in some of their recent product roll outs, and figured out maybe they need someone that has some experience in RSS. Well I hope they get somebody really good so they can clean up some of the mess they have created, and make their feeds

iTunes Got it Right With Video

There was a large group of execs that said no one would download videos and the commercial television companies would never sell episodes of their shows without ads, it was bad for business. Well it looks like Apple got it right again. In a new report from TV Week Online, not only is the sale of television shows from iTunes soared to over a million a week, but it has boosted the ratings for the shows that are being downloaded.

New Baby and Technology

A couple weeks before Christmas my wife gave birth to our first child. Being that she was born into a geek family she wasn't a day old and I was already building a website for her. It is amazing how many pictures are taken of a baby in the first few days of life. Now that we are a digital

Cheap Marketing For Apple

On a recent business trip I sat behind someone who was telling anyone who would listen about his brand new video iPOD. The flight was a little over an hour and this customer turned salesman talked about 85% of it. I had always wondered how the iPOD sensation spread so fast. Yes, Apple has always been good at marketing however,

Apple iTunes team communicates with Podcasters

I about fell out of my chair this morning when i actually got some correspondence from a real person at Apple in regards to podcasting support in iTunes. They provided links to a forum area and also a new technical document with some new tags they have added. But what blows my mind is that the directory in iTunes is

Dave Winer takes a Swing at Apple’s Photocasting RSS Implementation

This morning when I woke up I saw that one of our editors here at Geek News Central had done a great iLife 06 review, and when I went to look at her photocasting page via my Windows machine it said I could not view them as the browser wasn't supported both Forefox and IE would not load the page.

Is Microsoft looking to put a dent in Orb and Slingbox bottom line?

I have a windows media player that I have been paying a lot more attention to since CES and I have a very good friend who has a Slingbox which he really loves. I have been wondering for sometime why Microsoft doesn't allow me to do the same thing with Windows Media Center as Slingbox and Orb provide. Well according
