I mentioned this in last night podcast but I want to drop something on the weblog. Shoko and I want to extend our thoughts and prayers to all those that have been affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Watching the news this morning I realized that the situation was much worse. With the levee break in New Orleans much if not all of that city is underwater, the loss of life could end up being very high and I cannot even imagine the hell some most be going through.
A number of years ago, I was living in Guam, and rode out a category 5 typhoon “Omar” that scored a direct hit on the island with winds at times exceeding 200mph. That storm was one I would never want to witness again, and the devastation it wrought was unbelievable. Flooding was only a issue during the storm but the 37 days without electric power was bad enough. The situation in Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi is a great deal worse, and people are faced with a life changing event.
What the general population face in the areas impacted by Katrina is of such great magnitude, that I can personally comprehend the total impact. But again Shoko and I will have all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
