For the Record!

I have what I call my “A” list of Bloggers I read daily, and usually check to see if their RSS feeds have been updated more than once a day. From these “A” list bloggers I learn quite a bit. One of those “A” list bloggers is very vocal, and on the other side of the fence in the ideological sense, but I read his blog anyway along with some other similar vined weblogs to internally debate and bounce their ideas against my set values and ideals.

My grandfather who is in his 90’s loves to debate, as a kid an young adult we used to sit around in the living room or down at the barn having conversations that included politics along with world events in general. He is a World War Two veteran “Pacific”, and I respect his generations perspectives.

So I suppose I have always liked a lively debate. I am willing to listen to people’s perspectives and evaluate them it’s what makes you smarter. Which leads me to the crux of this post. I see over on Channel 9 a thread has started, that basically says some are sick of reading what Robert Scoble has to say.

I had to laugh, because I often get ribbed by some of friends I have in the web space about quoting Robert to much. I think the reason I do is that I know Robert works for Microsoft, but he also is willing to stick his neck on the line and is willing to debate his handlers and mix it up on the keyboard, the same way my grandfather and I or his friends used to mix it up down in the barn.

I like to play devil’s advocate with my closest friends and associates as it stirs conversation which creates heated intelligent conversation. Personally the world needs more people like Scoble who causes his employer to really take a deep look on how their doing business.

Obviously he is a Microsoft spokesperson but at the same time he is kind of like an internal company auditor that as a Microsoft boss you would hate to hear from, but once you do you need to talk about it, and hopefully over time that invokes change. Pure brilliance in keeping him on the payroll he is definitely worth more money than he is being paid now. Will I quit quoting of linking to him, doubtful but like a good debate you never walk away to your sure you get the last word in.

    Re For The Record.

Dude my estimation of you just jumped alot.
well enough to sign up to let you know ;)
excellent sentiments expressed. debating and being tolerant enough to listen to an opposing view is something very much lacking from alot of people.
