Where are the RSS reporting tools?

Here is the question of the week. Why hasn’t some programmer put together some tools that will allow those of us that serve or own RSS feeds to get some better statistics. I’m talking about a tool that will tear up a server log file, and give me some detailed information about were traffic is coming from, how often a reader is visiting and some in depth specific reporting on our RSS feeds.

Ok I am sure some of you are going to say go over to FeedBurner and setup an account. The problem I have, is I don’t want anyone to see my feed stats except for me. Thus I am wondering why no one has built a tool that I can run on my own server that will give me the same stats as Feedburner, and more without having to give them control of my feed.

People keep asking me why I don’t use their service, and the reply is simple control. Plus my frustration of putting articles on my website and the feed not getting updated for hours on end.

Obviously the folks at SixApart are not going to do it because they are using FeedBurner service also. Makes me really wonder.
