I have been doing some research were Geek News Central is supposedly hitting sites with trackback pings, when in fact we never did. Some low life’s are trying to jury rig the trackback process..
The only thing I can figure is they are adding the pings to their database by hand or have a tool that does a fake reverse ping.
Here is what is occurring:
I or one of my editors will put up a article and then the next day we will see either via pubsub, or other means that someone we would have never pinged, is showing that we pinged them for the story. When in fact the source was a major site.
This is a sham and it pisses me off. We have worked hard to build a following quit stealing our content. If am awaiting response from several sites that I have absolute proof on. You have 48 hours to respond. Then I will call your sites out by name. No one but the big boys get 20 pings to each and everyone of their post.
If we write a article that we reference your site, then we ping your site, always have always will. But don’t try and claim to be the source of information by stealing our content and then faking a trackback ping from us to your weblog.
These sites many times are writting verbatim what we have said. When I write articles on this site I do so 90% of the time from scratch. We always acknowledge the source of the information we are basing out comments on.
