Very funny but obviously the idiots that put this together have the majority of facts very incorrect it pisses me off when they put a protest spin on things and fail to mention the facts. I spent the first 20 years of my life on a farm and have many family members still heavily involved in agriculture and I will tell you this website slaps them and the thousands of other hard working farming families in the face. Want the true facts unbiased facts I will put together a list of sites for a future posting.
But honestly do people think the meat they buy today comes from pigs that are allowed to run in open air pig pens or chickens who eat there grain off the dirt floor. [The Meatrix Livestock Propaganda Site]
Footnote: I see who some of the sponsors are “The Sierra Club, Friends of Earth, Farm Sanctuary” all a bunch or tree hugging, vegetarians
So which facts were incorrect? Do you mean the cows and pigs ARE actually grazed on open air land? And not put in those machines?
And why all the overproduction of meat? I once read a statistic that the amount of meat produced in the world in a year is enough to feed the population of the earth for several years because of overproduction. So we don’t actually need all those growth hormones.
But it’s sad to know that most of that food is either eaten on our continent or thrown away untouched. None of it is exported to developing countries like Africa because Africa doesn’t have money to pay for it.
The site is endorsing ethical meateating…not vegetarianism.
Even though I’m a vegetarian, I find that totally virtuous.
Where on the site is it telling people to become vegetarian? All I see (after watching the clip) is a big headline that says, “BUY MEAT FROM FAMILY FARMERS,” a lot of resources and actions you can take, none of which is to become vegetarian.
The Sierra Club and other groups mentioned are established, well-respected organizations. Maybe this is where I’m coming from, but only extreme right-wingers would consider these organizations to be radical in any way (and only extreme right-wingers would use the term “tree hugger” in a serious tone).
After the European Union was established, a strong trend of industrialization in agriculture was triggered, because the big market required cost-effective production. A wave of problems came along with this development of which Mad Cow Disease is only one. The customers acceptance for industrial agriculture products is thus “thoretically” low in Europe, but in the supermarkets, people still do not accept the higher prices of traditional farming products. So the customer is a part of the problem. But there is a problem and it is good to point at it. To see the vegetarian as an enemy is as stupid as seeing an other religion as enemy. Why not declaring left-handers and postmen enemy too ?
I think the point of the vid was to show how BIG BUSINESS as opposed to smaller farms is sacrificing natural foods for profits. Antibiotics and growth hormones CAN’T be god for the human body. But lots of things will be sacrificed for the bottom line. Human lives probably being one.
Why has Europe banned growth hormones and gene modified foods? What do they know our industry doesn’t want to tell us?
Ever compare a European chicken breast to an American chicken breast? I have, and I get scared thinking about how mutant like the American chicken looks to a non hormone enhanced one.
Eat organic and free range. Support what food is supposed to be like.
I agree. If they want to be a bunch of tree huggin, twig eatin, dope smokes, so be it. I could care less….but….don’t you dare come between me and my bar-b-que grill, with a slab of sizzlin meat
