Children always bring joy into our lives and with that joy you get to experience all kinds of interesting things. There has been a 24 hour stomach flu making it’s rounds here in Hawaii and starting 2 nights ago it was our turn. The unfortunate part is, as all pregnant women will tell you when they see a sick kid they try and stay as far away as possible to remain as healthy as possible. Well my daughter apparently passed it on to my wife and in the process my wife came down with the bug. No fever but everything else that goes along with stomach flu.. But what made it real interesting is about 5am this morning the wife is complaining that she is having some sharp pains and thinks we ought to go to the hospital.
For those of you that have been with us for a while will know that we are expecting our third child around the 1st of the year. Well this is not the first of the year and the one in the oven needs some more cooking time. So off we go to the emergency room and they send us immediately to labor and delivery. At the same time I am doing the concerned dad thing and hounding the never in a hurry doctor and nurses busy to get a handle on what we suspect are pre-mature contractions.
4 bags of IV drip for dehydration and 10 hours later we are back at home and I am annoying the wife every 15 minutes asking here if she has felt anything. Our first daughter was 4 weeks early and in the scheme of things that is not really a big deal but 11 weeks early is another matter all together. So I suspect I am going to be a royal pain to my wife for the next several months as I force her to curtail some of the over strenuous activities she so enjoys. Modern medicine is an amazing thing but I would prefer some more natural development time versus a incubator. I normally don’t post a lot of personal information here on this site but I thought I would let ya all know the scoop on what has been happening here the last few days.
