There is a graphical perspective piece about the way President Bush is asking for money for the rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan that individual has his perspective I have mine. How soon some Americans forget the tragedy in our near past and how many are unwilling to realize that if the fight was not taken to the madmen in the world then we could end up experencing this in America. Would anyone be willing to trade 86 Billion dollars for what could happen. Ignorance is bliss I guess some would say. Those that bitch the most about the war and the money spent still are still protected by the constitution and the Bill of Rights and have many luxuries that Billions of people in this world would love to be able to afford. The sacrifice now is great but as in World War 2 it is necessary.
Turn off your TV, NOW! It has ruined your better judgement. Steer clear of cnn.com et al while you’re at it. There have been less than 3 noteworthy terrorist attacks against US interests since (and including) 911, and this has been used as justification to overthrow a nation that hasn’t been related to them. The attacks sure weren’t pretty, but this crap about protecting American interests has to stop. Firstly, the US is under no real threat as the mainstream media would have you believe. Secondly, the war that was started in the name of “freedom” was a sham. This is coming to light now, yet you still can’t believe that there might be more to the whole story and a lot less to Bush’s propoganda parade.
Next time you climb onto your soap box, ask yourself first whether your world view is really that accurate.

“Go back to bed America, your government is in control again. Here, watch this … shut up …” – The late Bill Hicks.
Anyone who likes to keep an open mind on this topic should make a clear difference between propaganda phrases like “this trerrorists may going to bomb your city” and facts that can be easily checked, for example that Saddam Hussain was supported by US for long time, that the Vicepresident is closely connected to a company that has recieved huge Iraq-contracts without bidding competition, that there is no proven link between any international terror act and the former regime of Iraq a.s.o. Check it, and don’t listen to people who say they have facts but don’t tell you any. There is a trend to moslemic fundamentalism among arab nations, that is true. But this doesn’t necessarily mean terrorism. Religious moslems were disgusted by the US supported decatent regime of Shah Resapahlewi and Iran and Iraq were formed in a kind of an countermovement to the extreme opposite. is right when he compares Iraq with palestine. There will always be a part of the Iraq population that is ready to fight against foreign occupation. US needs to heal the wounds of its former intervention politics in middle east and not to produce new ones.
Without going into details all I can say is you all have been reading to much of the liberal press and do not have a full understanding of how things are outside of the United States. Having worked a great deal in the Middle East and seen the truth up close and personal you better be thankful that the President did what he did. If we do nto continue to engage these terroist then it may your building or city being destroyed next time. If you really think the fight was for oil then I have some land to sell you in Alaska you have your opinion I have my facts.
I must agree with <peter>. Iraq was invaded, not for the “threat” they posed to us, and not for any Al-Qaeda ties, but because of their oil supply and, to mock he-who-must-be-mocked, “someone there took a shot at my paw.” Oil and vengeance. Pathetic.
Now we’re saddled with the responsibility to rebuild what we’ve so cowardly and barbarically destroyed, and for no *good* reason. Terrorists? WMD? Nothing. We’ve come up with nothing. No “bin Laden,” no unconventional weapons, and no rest from the guerilla killings of our sons and daughters.
Iraq is the New Palestine, and until we wise up to the fact that we just don’t belong there, or anywhere else for that matter, our soldiers will be killed.
Wish I had a good idea on how to fix it for us, but the truth is, that’s gonna take decades to accomplish. Not just making Iraq presentable again, but gaining world respect. Yeah, pb really screwed things up. For an entire generation. Does the world know no shame?
The Iraq was taken over, not for removal of a madman that was powerless in global dimensions at that time, had nothing to do with 9/11, is owner of the “Golden Key of the City Chicago”, but for to shift the oil industry of Iraq into US-friendly hands that will give pressure to the OPEC. The money is necessary to achieve this, to solidify oppression and pay henchmen. The money is investment, not a gift. The Iraqis would refuse this trojan-money if they could. Interestingly, it looks like the money returns from Iraq not to the hands of US-taxpayers but to big companies like Bechtel or Halliburton, so that finally Bush shifts money from the US-taxpayers to the big companies via Iraq, plunging middle east into destabilisation and war.
