Now that Discovery and crew are safe on deck, the NASA team can get busy, and figure out this foam issue so we can get Atlantis in the air next month. I would not want to place a bet in Vegas but let's see if all of that brain power at the Cape can come up with a solution.. One
The Space Shuttle Discovery landing has been delayed for 24 hours due to uncertain weather conditions at the Kennedy Space Center.
I think the plan as outlined in the linked New York Times article is dead on. I have always wondered why NASA had gone away from heavy lift vehicles, and it's nice to see that they are back on the drawing board. I hope that they proceed with the design as outlined and build em fast. [New York Times]
Lets just say NASA is going to be looking at recycling some water in space. The source is not what you would expect. [Wired]
NASA is in the middle of the spacewalk to not only work on the ISS but also to go under the space shuttle. [NASA]
I just can not get over the fact that we have flown as many Shuttle flights as we have, and only 1 flight after the Columbia disaster they want to go down their and pull out some spacers. This just blows me away. The question I want answered is how many previous shuttle missions have come come with this spacer

NASA is taking this business of stuff falling off the shuttle and fuel tank pretty darn serious. But what suprises me is that tiles have come off before. If I remember correctly they have some fudge room if they loose a couple of tiles. But the external fuel tank is another story they are not at all happy about that.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that they can make that date, hopefully this sensor issue is behind them. I personally have experienced the pressure of getting equipment fixed so something important could take place but nothing even close to this scale can you imagine the heat that had to be on the engineers. I always hate it though when your
