Cineo Lighting Announces New Maverick Portable at NAB



Cineo LightingCineo Lighting is bringing something new to NAB 2014 – the Cineo Maverick. It is the newest member of the TruColor family from Cineo Lighting. The Cineo Maverick is portable and provides all of the benefits of Remote Phosphor Technology that is found in the TruColor HS and LS.

The Cineo Maverick meets the demands of field use. It is portable, lightweight, DC powered, and weatherproof. This makes it ideal for photographers who need to bring lighting to an outdoor shoot. Cineo Maverick delivers a volume of light equal to a traditional 1K soft source. It is optimized for image capture as well as other applications that would require accurate color rendering.

vMix Debuts Live 4K and Social Media Integration at NAB 2014



vMix LogovMix is a video mixing software that provides live HD video mixing. Version 12 of vMix has already been released, ahead of NAB 2014. It was created by StudioCoast, which is an Australian company. In order to use vMix, you must have a computer that runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8 platforms.

vMix has many interesting features. You can do live mixing, switching, and streaming of SD and HD (up to 1080p) video sources. The sources of the video can be from cameras, video files, DVDs, images, and more. It supports AVI, MP4, H264, MPEG-2, WMV, and QuickTime. It also supports audio files that are MP3 or WAV.

There are ten different transitional effects that you can use. You can customize 4 transition buttons in order to have easy access to your favorite effects. vMix comes with built-in Audio Mixer which allows you to mute, follow, and delay any audio source. A VU meter is included to help ensure that each input level is broadcast ready.

Another cool thing about the vMix is that it allows for simultaneous recording, streaming and output. You can use it to stream to Ustream and YouTube Live. It is also possible to stream to 3rd party software like Skype or Google Hangout. Those are just a few of the multitude of features in vMix!

You can do social media integration through vMix Social app. This makes it easy for you to send Tweets and Facebook comments directly to live on air graphics and lower thirds. Select content from a tablet or smartphone or have it sent automatically.

Adder Technology Unveiling 4K Connectivity Solutions at NAB 2014



Adder Technology logoAdder Technology will unveil its 4K-ready solutions at NAB 2014. They are launching 4K capable KVM products. This includes a firmware upgrade to the AdderLink XD522. The AdderLink XD522 is a high resolution DisplayPort and Thunderbolt display extender.

The upgrade makes the AdderLink XD522 capable of extending 4K signals. The upgrade is available for download on the Adder website. People who are already using the AdderLink XD522 can download the upgrade absolutely free of charge. The firmware update will provide native 4K resolution (4096X2160) and 4K UHD 3840×2160 at 30Hz. It also will provide advanced EDID management with user hotkeys on top of all the existing features.

Adder Technology has teamed up with Stagebox (which was partially developed by BBC Research and Development) to demonstrate how IP technologies can enhance each stage of the broadcast production chain. Porta-Brace Features New Products at NAB 2014



PortaBrace LogoPorta-Brace is known for their highly durable and functional camera bags, camera cases, audio equipment bags and more. They are designed for professional film and video crews. Their products are not restricted to professionals, however. The same products can be used by people who do a lot of audio or video recording (such as podcasters).

Porta-Brace is featuring several brand new products at NAB 2014. One is the BK-2BVSN: Backpack Carrying System for Phantom Helicopter. It is a Cordura backpack with a foam insert that fits into PB-2750 hard case shell (which provides extra protection during transport.) It will come in handy for those who own a Phantom Helicopter and who want to take it somewhere for some aerial filming.

Another new product is the BK-Hive: Backpack & Slinger DSLR and Lens Case. It uses a “honeycomb” system of removable padded lens caps to maximize space and provide protection for your lenses.

Porta-Brace is also featuring a removable wheel system. It includes a lightweight wheels that can easily be taken off. When you want to carry around your case, simply remove the wheels and tuck them into a pocket on the case.

They have also have created all new cases for audio equipment like Sound Devices 633, Zaxcom Maxx, and more. The new cases have a single-body design for optimum weight distribution and multiple attachment points. Orca Gear to Launch at NAB

Ustream is Introducing Some Additions to their Pro Broadcasting Service



Ustream Pro One of the growing trends among the online video services including YouTube and Ustream is to offer pro services. During NAB Ustream is introducing some additions to their Pro Broadcasting service Ustream Cloud Platform including:

  • live playlist
  • hd–enabled web broadcasting console
  • video on demand upload
  • new player technology
  • live close caption

The Ustream’s Pro Broadcasting service also now includes a linear programming capability which allows the broadcaster to take a recorded program and then run it on a continuous loop 24/7 or schedule to broadcast at a specific time. Ustream also has an integrated social stream, which allows the broadcaster to moderate a chat while the viewers can chat using either Twitter and Facebook.

The Ustream Pro Broadcasting Service has over 5000 global customers. One of the new partners for the Ustream Pro Broadcasting is Discovery Communication which will offer a 24/7 broadcasting of Animal Planet Live.
