I have had a Vudu box now for about 6 months. I really like it but one thing that has held us back from using it more is that I had it connected to the Internet via a Poweline Network Extender.
The speed with the Powerline Extender was such that you had to order the movie you wanted to watch and then wait it because the connection over the powerline was not fast enough to support live streaming.
So last week when I saw that Vudu had put together a Wifi Kit for the Vudu box I ordered it immediately.
In the kit you get a transmitter, receiver, 1 Transformer, 1 USB to Power connector. I plugged everything in according to the instructions and while the USB port on the Vudu powered the receiver for a short time all of a sudden it quit.
My assumption is that the USB power connection on the Vudu burned up. I have to call Vudu on that. Not to be deterred I put the transformer and power plug on the receiver and put the USB on power cord on the Transmitter. My recommendation to Vudu is to provide two transformers.
After I got past the power issues and the network connected up I ran their network test and I am now able to stream movies live to include HD movies. One of the weak points from the beginning with the Vudu box is that it did not come with WiFi built into the box.
Hopefully they will include Wifi by default on all new boxes. Overall I am very excited about being able to use my Vudu box again. Cost for the wireless kit is $79.00
