iGo PowerXtender Universal Battery-Powered Charger

Igopower

The second product from the folks at iGo that I reviewed initially was one of those devices I would personally never purchase. The device was the iGo powerXtender and surprisingly they have made me a believer in this product.

They sent me the powerXtender device shown in the picture along with three tips in the press kit. I was a little surprised that the tips were sold separately. But for $15.99 for the unit pictured, its more than a fair price with each tips at $9.99

I looked at the gadgets I carry and determined that between my iPod, Cell Phone, and digital camera the total price would be around $50.00 with shipping if I had ordered the device with three tips.

So on my trip to NYC I did not bring the charger for my iPod and ran my iPod out of Juice on about day three. I used the provided tip, plugged in my iPod and left it to charge for about 30 minutes. I was surprised that after 30 minutes the iPod indicated nearly a full charge. I used the powerXtender a few times on my cell phone as well when I had forgotten to charge it at the hotel.

I went through 2 sets of AA batteries over a week. Overall I was pretty pleased. Up to this point I was pretty much a skeptic of these devices but i was able to listen to my iPod all the way back to Honolulu via a 8 hour flight from a single charging session with the powerXtender when the iPod was almost dead.  Terrific line of products and now I am going to be looking into their iGo devices for laptops.

The performance of this unit really did surprise me! iGo.com
