I fell pretty sorry for the crew over at Podshow, with an announced Launch date of July 4th people have been waiting to see what they have created now for 2 days! Considering all the time they have had to put it together, and the amount of money, and staff they have this thing better blow everyone out of the water.
I know how frustrating it can be, as we are working through a pile of bug reports on our site as well, we had hoped to have the hosting features release along with hotpicks, and some other cool stuff that is finished but not loaded by the end of the weekend. For now I am just hoping the guys can get the bugs knocked out by Monday, and be ready to add the other features next week.
I told the guys from the get go, if the site was not ready fundamentally we would not launch, and at 2am the night before our launch the team said it was sound. That did not prevent us from having some problems. The trick we used to make sure the site would be ok was to run in a production configuration the week prior, with the main page blocked from view with a special cookie. We were pretty confident when we flipped the switch it would come on i’m not sure what podshow is dealing with but it must be pretty big.
I wish the programming team over at podshow good luck, but it is obvious even with millions in dollars in funding shit happens, and you just have to roll with it. I’m really proud of our team for doing what we did with no funding some very long nights and lot of heart.
