Unless Adam Curry has spun off a new company I would not want to start a new podcasting service that has his companies name in it. They probably will end up having Curry’s Lawyers come down on them for Trademark Abuse. They have decent pricing but the demo looks like they want everything hosted on their site, the question is who are they, and do they realize that some of us are moving multiple thousands of a single show episode.
Sadly the site does not allow for podcasters to maintain there own branding, everything at the site is on there domain with the same very basic template page. The only thing podcasters can do it looks like is upload podcast via a web interface which is a nightmare for large show sizes. I noticed some of the shows had a podcast creator advertisement in front and Google is only showing a handful of shows being hosted there.
There pricing plan offers a lot but they have purposely handicapped the site so that it makes it almost impossible to just use them for hosting. The feeds I tried to validate are missing elements and they are using incorrect syntax all over the place. They obviously do not understand RSS very well. Invalid feeds mean fewer downloads.
For the podcaster with his own website, host’s like Libsyn continue to be the only real deal in town as you can just upload files to them and they host them unobstructed.
On a completely unrelated note, I have been seeing some of your posts show up twice in the RSS feed Todd. Sometimes it is one post, or sometimes it is all the posts I see.
I don’t know if it is a Newsgator/FeedDemon thing, but I thought I would along the news (in case anyone else is seeing it). Anything you need me to help you troubleshoot the problem, please let me know.
Libsyn allows you to use them as a file host only. Big difference than this outfit.
