Cable Industry a loose loose situation

Do the cable companies think they can continue to do business as usual without bowing to the demand of today’s tech smart, and shopping savvy consumer. If you read the reports coming out of the National Show which is the cable industries trade convention ,you would think that consumer choices are not important.

Last year the FCC recommended that cable operators consider offering their channel lineup ala carte, this scares the cable companies to death. The linked report indicates they are holding on to there current models like a rats rushing to the top decks in a sinking ship. Personally I would immediately demand that about 90% of the channels that I am forced to buy into were canceled.

To compound things look at how net connected consumers are getting their entertainment. I guarantee that the Internet is starting to impact TV viewing hours considerably. In my opinion it’s probably a good time to dump any cable stock you have. [today.reuters.com]
