The words that came out of my mouth this morning are not repeatable when I read that Symantec has been using a Rootkit as a security method to prevent users from deleting files. It appears they have figured out that this is probably not a good thing to do and thru their update service will be de-installing it. As pissed as I was and continue to be at Sony for their foul up at least Symantec figured out they better fess up and remove the rootkit or face the backlash of the community. Makes me wonder what else is lurking below the surface in our operating systems. [eWeek]
