As shelters get stood up, their will be needs for individuals to access online banking, file claims etc. Not to mention trying to reach family members and generally communicate. Being many of the shelters will have 50 people or less in them, and the infrastructure within these shelters may not support more than a couple of phone lines.
So long as the shelter has broadband, of which my understanding is that many of the national Internet service providers are bringing in, or if not currently installed can and will install broadband for free. I am hoping to help those small shelters get those displaced connected to love ones by utilizing Skype Out or by getting computer equipment into those sites to get them online.
A plea came from one of my sites readers down in Louisiana for Skype Credits, and as I have been talking to a friend of mine in Houston he indicated the same thing was needed in several shelters there. So if you are working with or know a shelter that we can help with either Skype Out credits or computer gear please send me an e-mail
