You know with the amount of cash Microsoft has laying around they definitely could hire and Army they have a bigger budget than some countries do. Heck Bill Gates has enough cash and equity to hire some mercenaries. Bill does not like it that Google has moved into the Software space and is going to war.
My thoughts though is the machine at Microsoft flexible and fast enough to catch them. It’s funny because I liken Microsoft to a bulldozer and Google to a sports car. The bulldozer can push a lot of weight but the sports car can easily adapt and change course. It shall be interesting to see what happens from the sidelines.
The first thing Microsoft can do is improve spaces so it can compete with blogger. Improve search so I don’t have to rely on Google as much lets be honest I still get consistent better search results on my desktop than Microsoft can provide. One thing many people are anything but Microsoft. They have the OS on their PC because they have not been exposed to something of equal or grater value.
Apple could make some serious headway into this market to if they could just get their heads out of the sand and unbundled their operating system from their machines or make a version that would work on Intel and AMD chips. [Fortune]
