I am a paid to blog blogger for Marqui, see bottom of post for more details. Marqui has been sending us profile stories of companies that use their product. Up to this point I have been more interested in the actual, “how well does the product work mode”. I have not focused on companies that are using the product.
So this week I opened up the information and read through the 2 page mini interview and saw a couple of things that prompted me to write about how companies are using Marqui Communications Management System. I had assumed that companies that adopted the platform would do so whole heartedly considering what I had assumed the price tag would be. Omnex Control Systems replaced a solution they had in place before that was ineffective, with Marqui. What blew me away is only 1 person in their company appears to be using it. Turns out that they are using the application to primarily keep their website content fresh. Changes that used to take a week or more now only take a few minutes.
Reading thru the lines somewhat, it appears that the companies information officer was fighting a battle we all do at our jobs sometime, she was having to rely on a slow process through the IT department to make website changes. In today’s world any company no mater their size cannot afford to wait a week to announce a new partner or other major events. Thus the CMS solution is working for Omnex even though it appears a single person is utilizing the whole system.
I am speculating that this person would hope for broader utilization within the company, but like everything sometimes change comes slowly, she did say she is hoping to start using more features of the application.
So how often have we all seen changes made to the information distribution infrastructure of a business, that had not had wide acceptance, of that process? A question I would have asked the Omnex employee was this. Have you seen resistance by management to fully implement all of the features available in Marqui and if that answer is yes, why?
On one hand it is re-assuring that one persons job could be made a lot easier by implementing the solution, but I also wonder why they haven’t adopted the other benefits of the solution that I personally find attractive.
