Editors Rant:
You know that the major news outlets are scared when they lash out at webloggers and make ridiculous statements. The comments that Tom Brokaw made are going to get a lot of weblog press in the next couple of days and I just have to comment.
“At a panel discussion sponsored by The New Yorker magazine on Saturday in New York, NBC news anchor Tom Brokaw and ABC anchor Peter Jennings lashed out at Internet bloggers in defense of CBS anchor Dan Rather, according to reports from the Associated Press and Reuters. Brokaw compared the bloggers’ attacks on Rather’s “60 Minutes II” report about President Bush’s National Guard service a “political jihad””
This weblog only talks politics when it relates to Technology issues and I am not going to start talking about the up coming election, but to compare webloggers to Jihadist is disgracing. It tells me they are scared of the changing dynamics of news reporting. [ZDNet] [
They are scared. They will actually have to answer to someone and have some degree of intrigty they never had to worry about in the past. They enjoyed not having to research their stories and present them to the masses as fact. Someone is now, ‘policing the police’ so to speak.
