OK here is some good news from the digital divide that puts some of the tech industries biggest players on the side of consumers in supporting the Digital Media Consumers’ Rights Act which is also referred to HR 107 which I have been advocating that you support. I am continuing to encourage you to write to your Congressional Representative to help get this bill approved. HR 107 will change wording in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act that will assure consumers fair use of digital media.
Of course the MPAA, RIAA and other organizations want those provisions of the DMCA that HR 107 changes left as they are so that encryption and lockout tools can be incorporated into digital recording devices.
It is nice to see public companies working behind the political scenes in Washington DC forming a coalitions that supports the consumer. [Cnet]
