What is fair pricing for MT3

Their are a few articles out there saying that some of us only want something if it is free. Personally I will pay for software and will buy MT 3.0 based upon a expectation that Six Apart is going to make good on a promise to add features later.

They are expecting me to go on blind faith that they will do these things in a timely manner and the only way it is going to happen is if I buy in now and get the rewards later. I have done this in the past so I expect my 400+ dollars I will be spending with Six Apart will go to paying someones salary for a 1/3 of a week.

The angle they have used is that this is a developers release and not a users release. Well till today that was not the expectation. Even though they are touting it as a developers release you can still buy a personal edition. Time will tell how this will pan out.

One thing I thought amusing was the referenced article was saying that MT was only collecting .50 cents per each downloaded copy of software. He fails to tell everyone that Six Apart has a liberal donation policy and that users where under no obligation to donate to the project. [O’Reilly Network]
