As a avid reader of Geek News Central I know that all of you keep your computers patched with the latest offerings from Microsoft. The question I want you to ask yourself do you talk to your parents or your siblings to encourage them to patch their computers. If we all advocate patching of our friends and families computers we help protect them and our networks. [ZDNet]

I agree. I update my mothers computer weekly when I pop round to see her. I have tried explaining it but she isn’t really interested which is fair enough as, and she admits it, she wouldn’t honestly understand it all anyway. It is easier and safer to just leave me to do it as she will only worry and probably damage the system if she did things herself (sorry mum!).
It is as much our fault as the owners of the computers that get infected as we, being the people who know what to do regarding patches, etc., should help others who do not know as much. If you don’t help others you have no right to complain about the number of people who get infected as how else are they going to learn what to do? We were all computer n00bs once which means someone somehow, beit a book, website, whatever, helped you know what you know today!
:)
Enjoy your weekend all!
