This week already I have received 24 request from companies asking me to review their new software releases. We have done quite a few in the past and have ramped back up to do them again. In most of the request to review software I send back a nice note saying if they will provide us with a full registered version we will do a full review and write up the package and provide that info to them and you our readers.
Many times the response I get back is this, we are only allowed to send you a demo copy. Ok so now you want me to pay for a copy or use a demo ya right!
I could understand the demo only if the software was on the high end money wise but usually those types of companies have a large PR staff and better connection than us to get the word out. Most of the time we are talking about programs that are under $50.00. Come on folks ya have to give a little to get.
We now have a huge following on this site, numbers that I divulge to those that ask nicely or for legitimate reasons. (Venture Capitalist etc). We don’t publish this site for the glory of hit counts. What we do publish it for is the 100’s of Thank You’s we get from readers that find a nugget or two on here and for those that agree with our philosophy.
So they want you to view a demo copy, give them feedback, and also free advertising in the form of a review on your website of their software. Sounds like a sweet deal….for THEM.
