I have been watching to see how public opinion would fall in President Bush’s plan to return to the Moon and on to Mars. As a science buff I am all for getting back into some serious space exploration. But not just for the thrill to see men walk on the moon again. I was but a little boy when we last had men on the moon. But as a techno geek I do see the value added to going back.
I could build a list of positives that would probably take a week to write down but the key factors are this. Going back to the moon will not require new technology but it will push people to once again think out of the box and develop new systems, new technology and make people all over this great country and hopefully supported by a global team effort. We need to do this just to gain new technology and push the bubble in all industries. [Washington Post]
