In a surprise announcement Verisign has announced that they are to be purchased by Pivotal Private Equity. In there press release they have also announced that .com and .net Registry and Naming and Directory Services Infrastructure will Remain with VeriSign as Cornerstone of Internet Infrastructure Business [Verisign]

Verisign is selling its subsidiary Network Solutions. Verisign itself is remaining, unfortunately.
