Advertising on Feedster

Update: Scott over at Feedster got in touch with us. Somehow e-mail from us to him went missing. We appreciate his refund but we also said we want to suport him and will be sending our payment back to him. He has fixed the problem and has been great. We rely on e-mail to such a great extent that even I forget about the human element. When communication channels are open everything is great. I am sure we have all had a co-worker scorn us for not getting back to them on a e-mail we never received.

So I owe Scott an apology and we are retracting the comments on the story. I will leave them for you to read but it is to easy for people to forget that behind each business transaction is someone trying to do the right thing. The gang over at Feedster are doing great things and have a great service [Feedster]

Original RETRACTED COMMENT

We went out and advertised on Feedster for a month. This was to support a innovator and two we are always looking to get the word out on Geek News Central. I pay for a month for a day or two we visit the site to see if our ad is up and it was. Then all of a sudden we are not seeing the ad anymore? So I send a comment to the site operator asking about it. No Response?

Apparently without telling anyone he has them in a que so you only get viewed after so many searches, thus your site only gets seen once in a while. Out of 20 reloads I never once saw our site ad once. Thinking this could not be correct I log on to the ad admin page and look at the stats, it says we are getting views and that number is increasing. So back again I go and try a variety of searches to no avail.

The Ad was $45.00 for a month which on most Blog related websites is about average. I would not have been as pissed if they would have been up front and said the ad will go into a que and your ad will not get shown every time a search is performed. If I had known that in advance I would have not advertised.

Am I miffed you bet, and you can bet your bottom dollar we will never advertise on Feedster again. If you see our site ever in the results we would like to here from you. I also plan on publishing the click through rates that we have seen on other popular sites as a comparison at the end of the month. [Feedster]

The first time I went to feedster I typed in the word “geek” in the search box and your ad was one of the ads that showed up.

    Hi again,

Jon — we’re going to implement keyword matching over the weekend and then offer that gratis to all advertisers and just move to a straight CPM model across the board. How would that sound to you ?

I appreciate Scott’s refund but we really do want to support him and I am going to send the money back to him.

I really did not care about the click through rates. Just thought it was odd that the Ad wasn’t showing up and with no response after 2 days b I was irritated.

He has sent me 2 e-mails and I am not sure why he didnt get ours to begin with and we are trying to figure that out now.

I had no problems with that, but I got EXTREMELY low click throughs. Like 2/10,0000. Scary low. Oh well, it was to show my support anyway.
