FCC boosts cell subscriber rights

This is more good news from the FCC. A cell phone number is like your name. When you change your name, no one knows who you are talking about, or it takes a while to get the hang of. Finally, you can take you cell phone number with you. This is a story I’ll be telling my kids some day.

“U.S. cell phone subscribers behind on their accounts can still take their telephone number with them if they switch carriers, the Federal Communications Commission said in a letter made public Thursday.

The letter by FCC Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Chief John B. Muleta is the first time the commission has addressed this issue, according to Verizon Wireless spokesman Jeffrey Nelson.” [News.com]
